Come and learn about the history of silk production in New England.  Silk was big business in and around Mansfield Connecticut during the first half of the nineteenth century.  Ann Galonska of the Mansfield Historical Society will present a program on the history of the silk mills and silk business in this area. Afterward friends of the Mansfield Historical Society and Windham Textile Museum will be invited to visit with us as we demonstrate bobbin lace.

This event will be held at Buchanan Auditorium at the Mansfield Public Library, 54 Warrenville Road (Rte 89), Mansfield, CT. The auditorium will be open starting at 10:30 am. The silk presentation will be from 11:00 am to noon. There will be a break for coffee, tea and light refreshments from noon to 1 pm. Lace demonstrations will be from 1:00 to 3:00 pm.
