As part of the "Daughters of Liberty" exhibit, we have been invited to demonstrate at the Windham Textile & History Museum in Willimantic, CT. Demonstrators can be costumed or not, in appropriate revolutionary-era clothing.
NELG will have two display cases at the exhibit: one dedicated to Ipswich Lace and the other containing examples of the many other types of lace. So there is no need to bring additional display materials.
The Museum has also dedicated the year 2024 to be the "Year of Touch", to provide tactile experiences specifically to the vision impaired community. We have been specifically asked to include an element of touching and/or trying. With this in mind, please plan to bring along some lace that can be handled, as well as a "Try it" pillow set up with a simple pattern.
If you are interested in demonstrating, please register so that we can let the Museum know how many people to expect.
NOTE: There are opportunities to demonstrate in August, September and October. If this month does not work for you, please check out other months.
