Name tags?

May 08, 2025 7:37 AM | Caroline Morse

I'm considering ordering a name tag with my name and "New England Lace Group" on it to wear for demonstrations. There are quite a few options on Etsy, including a wooden one, and the choice of magnets or pins. Thoughts?

It might be nice if the group made name tags as a project?

Other guilds I've been in have done this - have the logo sewn onto squares, people add their own lace edge design.

Has the NELG ever made embroidered cover cloths? We might consider doing those and while they make them, make squares for name tags?

I have had it mind for quite some time to suggest name tags as a group project. I have a pattern (bobbin lace) and the name tags already.

NELG has never made embroidered cover cloths. The logo is too finely detailed to convert nicely to machine embroidery. We are investigating screen printing some.

I wonder if making a vector file of the lace logo design would be worthwhile so that we could make name tag bases from laser cut wood or 3D printing and preserve the intricacy of lace design where embroidery may be too finicky. I have access to both technologies as part of my lab. A digital file would also allow for replication in the future beyond an initial production run and modification to add holes for attaching an edging like conference badge ribbons. I may prototype this later. -ASA
